We have been really lucky that our cooperation with Nepali jewelry makers has been able to continue despite the difficult corona situation in the country. There have been several long corona lockdowns in Kathmandu, and making a living has become even more challenging for many. A new element in our jewelry collection, which will be completed in May, is hand-made macrame weaving, thanks to which the jewelry orders have provided work for five women from Kathmandu.

Our partners Anjila and Indu teach the jewelry makers new techniques and guide the work to the beginning, after which the women can do the actual work at home. For many housewives, part-time work at home is the only opportunity to earn their own money.

All the metal parts of the jewelry are made by our skilled silversmith Jai. Since Kaiko's jewelry has been a customer favorite, Jai has been able to start building a new home in place of his house that was destroyed in the 2015 earthquake, thanks to the income from additional orders.

Our Nepali jewelry makers have been really taken by the popularity of the jewelry and send warm greetings to Finland!
